While M&H Wood Specialties ltd. is known primarily for “Scribe Fit Round Log Construction” we have always offered alternative log profiles.Our hewn log – Dovetail corner construction is usually associated with historic restoration work. However these clients viewed our hewn log sample sections at the Edmonton Log & Cottage Show and realised M&H could produce and build the style of handcrafted timber home they had always dreamed of. It is obvious in these photos the homeowner choices in styles and finishes has created an amazing environment combining a cozy traditional feel wth comtempory finishes.

This home was planned with a reduced environmental impact as one of the design criteria. While M&H did not engage the geothermal contractor we were responsible for the building envelope. The Blower door test verified an air exchange rate well below mainstream house constructon. The integrity of the building envelope combined with ICF foundation, rimboard insulation, triple pane windows and doors, geothermal heating system and heat recovery ventilators brought this building to an energuide rating of E89 which easily exceeds the 2012 national building codes E80 expected minimum requirements for new residential construction.
